This Term, Class 5’s topic is Chocolate!

Last half term we learned about the Aztecs and why they came to settle in Central America. We found out how they travelled, what they wore and a little bit about their largest city Tenochtitlian.

We know that the Aztecs were the first group of people to use chocolate. In Literacy, we have been writing explanations about where the cocoa bean is grown and processed ready to be turned into chocolate. We also researched how chocolate was made using the cocoa beans and wrote an explanation about that.

Our class read is Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. This is the text that we are going to be using for our Narrative Literacy topic so we are all very excited about it.

In science, we have been learning about solids and liquids. We are going to be creating our own chocolate lollies using different ingredients and designing a wrapper for them using the netbooks. We looked at pop art by Andy Warhol and are going to be turning our chocolate wrappers into pop art prints.

We are really excited about our trip to Cadbury World, it’s going to be a lot of fun!
